At this time there is no limit on the number of items that can be requested through interlibrary loan. Please plan on two weeks for a book to arrive.
Arrival Notification
Returnable materials such as books will be held at the Library Circulation Desk and you will be notified by e-mail when requested items have arrived and are available for pick up.
Photocopy requests are for personal retention and are sent electronically whenever possible.
Loan Period, Renewals and Recalls
Renewals are determined by the lender. Please request a renewal at least three working days prior to the due date. Depending upon the material, lending libraries generally grant renewals for an additional two to four weeks. (Please request a renewal by visiting the Circulation Desk or e-mail ill@usnwc.edu).
Interlibrary loan materials are subject to recall by the lending institution. If you receive notification that an item has been recalled, please return the item within 24 hours.
Failure to honor due dates, lending restrictions and recalls could result in the loss of your borrowing privileges along with impacting future lending agreements for the Naval War College Library.
Lost or Damage to an ILL Item
Libraries lend us materials as a courtesy and the Naval War College Library strives to maintain good standing with our partner libraries. Please treat ILL items with care. If an interlibrary loan is reported lost or damaged by the patron, a replacement fee along with possible processing costs will be assessed by the lending library and must be paid by the patron in a timely manner. We appreciate your help and understanding.
Newly Published Items
Please be aware items released within the past 6 months to one year, maybe very difficult to obtain on interlibrary loan. We will try our best, however the majority of libraries will not loan very new items via interlibrary loan.
