Student Presentations

Purpose: To explore legends and authentication of females in combat and females in roles of leading war and combat.  Understand global reach of the female warlord and warrior by studying the areas of Arabia, Asia, India, Britain, Africa, Latin America, Egypt, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and North America.  Discuss leadership, judgment and talents of these individuals and discover what themes exist regarding the female in combat.  Who were these women?  What did they accomplish?  What were their strengths and weaknesses?  Why are they ignored in today’s discussions of female combatants?  Where does the idea of the female Amazon originate? Why is this idealized form important to the history of women in war and combat?
