The Naval War College Library Renewal Policy

Most items from the Naval War College Library that are not yet overdue may be renewed by patrons.  Renewals are allowed for all eligible library borrowers. Renewals may be made online, in person, or via email (circdesk@usnwc.edu).  Please refer to the Circulation Policy for information on how many renewals you are eligible for.

How to Renew an Item

Items may be renewed by accessing your library account online, in person, or via e-mail to circdesk@usnwc.edu. The link to your online account is located on the Primo Discovery page located on the Learning Commons Home page.  Please log into your library account  by clicking on "Sign In" located on the upper right hand corner of the screen. Once you are in your account you can see what you have checked out, by clicking on "My Loans" and then selecting the "Renew All" option or "Renew" each item  individually..

Exceptions

ILL's

The lending library of ILL materials sets the loan period and renewal policy.  Most libraries lend materials for 30 days with one renewal; other libraries may extend the initial loan period to 60 days without any renewal.  The renewal of items borrowed from other libraries is not guaranteed. Please request a renewal for an interlibrary loan at least 3 days before the actual due date. Interlibrary loans can not be automatically renewed on-line by using your library account. You must come to the Circulation Desk, email ill@usnwc.edu, or call 841-6509 for possible renewal.

DVD's,Videocassettes and CD-ROMs

 Can be renewed.

Recall

Materials in the Naval War College Library are subject to  recall after a period of 14 days when requested by another patron OR when needed for placement on the reserve shelf. When an item has been requested for recall by another user, the borrower to whom it is currently charged is notified by e-mail that they must return the item within fourteen days. Once the recalled item is returned, it is placed on hold for the requesting patron, who is sent a notice that the book is available to be picked up.
