Submitting Print Reserves Material

The Naval War College Library uses the Ares e-Reserves system to manage both print and electronic reserves materials.  Please follow the instructions below to submit materials to be placed on reserve.

1.  Getting Started

Plan Ahead!

Due to the volume of material placed on reserves, the Library cannot offer same day or rush requests for placing items on reserves.

The Reserves Coordinator will process all reserve requests.  Reserve items are processed during office hours which are:

Monday -  Friday  8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Requests for material to be placed on reserve should be made two weeks before the material will be needed.

Make sure your material is on reserve before making assignments.

**If you wish the Library to purchase any materials to be placed on reserve, please request the item one full semester in advance. **

2.  Placing Material on Reserve

The process for placing items on reserve is:

All reserves materials remain on reserve for one term and are removed from reserve at the end of finals each term.

3.  What May be Placed on Reserve

Most Naval War College Library materials may be placed on reserve.  We do not place the following categories of items on reserve:

  • Print materials from the Rare Book Collection and Naval Historical Collection
  • Books from libraries other than the Naval War College
  • Interlibrary Loan services are not to be used for obtaining items for reserve
