Mariia Butina

Mariia Butina is a Russian political activist and alleged Russian agent in the United States.  In July 2018, while residing in Washington D.C., Butina was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and charged with conspiring to act as an unregistered foreign agent. It was alleged that Butina was acting as an agent of Russia inside the United States by developing relationships with U.S. persons and infiltrating organizations having influence in American politics, for the purpose of advancing the interests of the Russian Federation.
