Thomas Hayden, a master chief in the US Navy, was a key player in the latter days of the Cold War acting as a double agent involved in a counterintelligence operation in Italy. He was approached by the Naval Investigative Service (NIS) to pose as a counterintelligence agent and offer top secret naval information to the KGB.
