Terrorism can be defined as "the threat or use of violence, often against the civilian population, to achieve political or social ends, to intimidate opponents, or to publicize grievances" (from The Columbia Encyclopedia).

Transnational Crime, or transnational organized crime, can be described as "a crime committed within a nation's borders which entails activities which cross those borders, such as smuggling or drug importation" (from The Macquarie Dictionary).

The purpose of this guide is to provide relevant information sources such as books, journal articles, websites, reports, and government publications on the topics of terrorism and transnational crime. These resources are meant as starting points for those studying these areas.
